Annual Sports Day 2008: Mr. Ashish Ballal, an alumnus and a hockey player who represented India at the presided over the 2nd and penultimate day of the Annual Sports of St. Joseph’s Indian Composite PU College on 29th August 2008 at the School grounds. He was a gold medalist at the His prowess as a custodian in hockey at defending the We are proud that a former student of St. Joseph’s Indian High School did India proud in world hockey. At present Ashish is running an Academy where he trains youngsters who will, he hopes, one day don State and National colours and romp home with the gold at the World Cup and at the Olympics.

Spark 2008: On Friday, 5th December 2008, Mr. M. Laximinarayan, Joint Director of BOSCH (MICO) and an alumnus graced the inaugural function of SPARK ’08 with his presence as the Chief Guest. It was an inter-collegiate cultural fest that lasted 2 days. Students of over 25 colleges participated.

Institution Day of St. Joseph’s Indian Middle School, High School, the College and the Community College was held on Friday, 19th December 2008. Mr. Mohandas Pai, Member of the Board and Head of Administration, Infosys, and an alumnus was the Chief Guest . Mr. Mohandas Pai, spoke of the progress that India had made in the Industrial and technological world since 1947. He said that the phase of western domination in the field of industry, commerce and development is now waning and countries in the East like India and China are taking the lead. He asked the students to prepare well as they would have to face a lot of competition in the future when they begin entering various fields of work.

The Alumni Association: The 19th of December 2008 was another significant day in the history of the St. Joseph’s Indian Institutions. It was the day when the Alumni Association was formally inaugurated during the Institution Day celebrations. A team of almost 15 members which included the seven Committee members were introduced to Mr. Mohandas Pai the Chief Guest who pinned the Alumni Association badges on them. It was a moving experience and Mr. Pai expressed his desire to be enrolled as a member immediately. Fr. Scotus Fernandez, S.J., the Rector then rose to pin an Alumni badge on him too.
